Amateur radio abroad – what may I operate where?
Choose your German licence class and destination country. The tool summarizes CEPT access, call sign prefixes, guest-licence requirements and the operating privileges listed for that country.
This tool is a practical aid and not legal advice. DA6IT.de cannot guarantee that every rule is complete or still current. Regulations, temporary permissions and national implementations can change at short notice.
Licence class, destination – and you immediately see the relevant rules.
The current data snapshot is based on the CEPT country list dated 21 August 2026, compiled from official national documents.
There is currently no ECC recommendation for mutual recognition of Entry Class licences. Some countries may nevertheless offer an individual guest licence – the country result below distinguishes this.
The result then shows whether short-term operation is permitted without a guest licence and which privileges apply.

German Class A
Maps to the CEPT Full Licence / HAREC level. In countries implementing T/R 61-01, short visits are generally possible without obtaining an individual temporary licence, subject to national conditions.
German Class E
Maps to CEPT Novice. It is only automatically recognized where ECC/REC/(05)06 has actually been implemented for visiting amateurs.
German Class N
Entry Class is not covered by an ECC recommendation for mutual recognition. A country may nevertheless offer an individual guest licence; this must be checked separately.
Before operating abroad.
Is a CEPT licence valid everywhere?
No. The relevant CEPT recommendation must have been implemented by the visited country. Non-CEPT countries can also implement individual CEPT recommendations, while some countries require a guest licence despite appearing in CEPT implementation lists.
How long may I operate under CEPT rules?
The CEPT Licence and CEPT Novice Licence are intended for short visits, generally up to three months. Some non-CEPT implementations specify different periods, which are shown by the country result when available.
What documents should I carry?
Carry your own licence document. It is also sensible to have the applicable CEPT recommendation plus the current national rules of your home and destination country available.
Why does DA6IT.de not guarantee the result?
Radio regulations can be changed by national authorities, sometimes with temporary conditions or special permissions. This page helps you prepare, but the official authority in the destination country remains decisive.
